What makes Vattavada stand out is its farmland — terraced slopes heavy with vegetables, fruits and berries. It’s often called the “vegetable-capital” of Kerala because it produces a remarkable variety: strawberries, apples, plums, peaches, passion fruit — and even the famous “Vattavada garlic.” When you walk through the village or its farms, you’ll sense why this place became an agricultural haven: the patchwork of green fields against the mountains makes for a striking, almost surreal landscape.
